I was talking with a good friend of mine the other day. We have known each other for about 11 years and also do business together. The issue of Prop. 8 came up. “Where are we on this?” she asked me. Meaning were did I stand on the issue. My wonderful friend is an amazing lady and is still questioning the idea of becoming a professed Christian. I told her that Prop. 8 has to pass. The Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman. She told me she was still struggling with it because she has friends who are gay and they have shared with her their struggles of getting health insurance, etc. etc. I really did not want to debate with her but I knew this was an important conversation.
I told her for me this was not about resolving the issue of being gay but about preserving what God tells us a marriage is – a covenant between a man and a woman. Do I believe their sin is any greater than mine? Absolutely not. I will be held accountable for my sins just as much as they will.
These issues facing us in this election are not about debating but glorifying God. You may not realize it but non-believers are watching how we behave. I’m satisfied with letting God resolve this issue of homosexuality. All I’m concerned about is God satisfied with Me?
Keep praying that Prop. 8 passes and we as believers will glorify God through our hearts and actions.
